First year of SECURE-NET wrapped up late last month in a two-day event hosted by Kaunas University of Technology.
On August 26th, project partners met to sum up the progress, talk over the tasks and discuss future cooperation. Seven out of 35 projected secondments have been successfully completed so far, providing the basis for reflections and detailed planning of remaining talent exchanges.
August 27th was devoted to the first of four mixed format mutual training workshops where project meeting participants were joined by over 30 experts from various industrial, public and academic institutions. The researchers and innovators training session featured invited talks on blockchain usage in the context of cybersecurity and quantum-resistant web traffic protection by KTU researchers Vaidotas Drungilas and Nerijus Šatkauskas. At the same time, SECURE-NET participants from Estonia, Chechia, and the Netherlands shared the results of secondments that have been completed within the project. After the lunch, participants got a chance to test and sharpen their cybersecurity risk management skills in a hands-on session moderated by the head of Cyber Security Centre of Excellence of KTU prof. Šarūnas Grigaliūnas. The day concluded with a comprehensive talk and discussion on successful project application development practices hosted by seasoned consultants Viktoria Biliaieva of University of Tartu and Hector C. It’s safe to say the first year has been a success and we’re already looking forward to the second general meeting taking place in July 2027, at University of Groningen.
